Welcome Dolly!

Someone offered a little doll for 3 euro.
Add the mailcosts and it would have been 10 euro.
But one of my daughters offered to fetch it....about 2,5 hours travelling from here.

She's got a free travel ticket (meaning she has paid for it in her studentloan) and said she'd rather use the opportunity to travel through the country, than stay at home.

When she arrived in the town she couldn't find the street and searched for it for 45 minutes. Then she met someone who was delivering mailbrochures and the girl had drawn her own streetmap. It worked better than google.

So the little doll found a new home here.
She has a large stain on her frog, so in time she will be redressed.
And we decided she will be, for a while, the face of this site.

Welcome Dolly!

Ideas

It's interesting to see that all children (no matter how grown-up they are) are having ideas about the looks of the house.
Some want to have a real fantasy-house, others want it to look as natural and normal as possible.

I've decided to take my time.
I've put a small notebook beside the house, so I won't forget the ideas that pop-up in my mind at the most inconvenient moments.

It's clear that one of the boys wants to use his experiences as model-railwaybuilder (scale 1:48) to change the outside. More windows at the back, for instance.
The girls are more involved in the interior decoration.

I never expected this house to be so inspirational for all.

About the house

I've found a place for the house.
We've got a desk in the room, and now it's not to be used as a desk anymore. :)

The house fits well there.
It's like it's been there always.

There's a lot of damage to the house.

Spots at the roof are scratched and much of the lining has been broken.
The chimney is build too solid and has to be redone.
Moving windows have been painted in such a way that they can't move.
The windowsills are painted very rough, all in the same colour, but in the inside they are lacquered very thick in brown.
Some windows were hit by painting, a few are not very clear anymore, so need to be replaced anyway.

There are curtains everywhere. But some are not well pleaded anymore.

There are floors in all the rooms. But in the right left room there are spots on the floor.
Another room has it all glued down rubbled.

There is wallpaper all over the house. But rubbed off at places. Maybe furniture was glued to it.

But it's a very solid house, so I can do everything I want with the walls. Even put wallstones to it.
The kitchen has been tiled very nice. And the wallpaper there is what I would have wanted. It looks like tiles.

The bathroom is far too large, but the floor is nice and the wall is pink paper-tiled. So for now it's good enough.

There are some buildingmaterials: strips of wood and a stair.
There are loose stair elements too;the stairs.

There's some very nice furniture and accessories. Some is broken but can be glued.
And there are three lovely dolls. So I'm happy anyway.

The house gives me a lot of inspiration.

So I'll let it settle in my mind, let the ideas burst open and write them down.

And I have to dig up all I've collected over so many years. :)

The house arrived

After waiting a couple of days the seller contacted me and said she wanted to sell it to me.
Just at the moment that I had reached the conclusion it wouldn't be me who was the lucky one.

I contacted my son who was willing to fetch it, and one of my daughters was able to go with him.
I had some doubt if it fitted in our car, but he waved all my concerns goodbye.

Not long after they'd gone I got a mail: "it doesn't fit into the car...I don't know what to do."
One of my friends already said that another friend with a large car was able to drive, and if that was of no help the neighbours had an extra add-on car.
So that other friend was called and he was able to fit the house in his car, with ease!

Turned out the measurements I was given were not the precise ones, but who cares!

Now it's at our home and everybody is enthousiastic about it.

With the house came some construction materials, the stairs, some furniture and 3 dolls.
So I feel terribly lucky.

But me oh my... it's so very large!
Where to put it?

It's going to stand on the cough during the night and tomorrow we'll see.

september

It's september already.

The past months have passed so fast!
They were filled with so many things, that I had no time to do something with my dollshouse.

But I bought some mosaic stones for the floor of one of the rooms.
The shop where I bought the little box was so lovely that I want to go back there.

I've been looking for a pink small stripe wallpaper and haven't found it yet.

But I'm so full of ideas!
